My journey into event planning wasn't planned, honestly. I was a
student at Hogeschool van Amsterdam studying Event Management,
and I volunteered to organize the annual graduation
celebrations. That first year was chaos — we had budget
constraints, competing ideas, and about 400 people expecting
something special.
But something clicked. I loved solving the puzzle of bringing
people together. I loved the moment when guests arrived and felt
the energy. So I kept doing it — first as a side project, then
as my actual job. In 2010, I launched my first independent
planning company right here in The Hague.
The early years taught me everything. Working with diverse
clients — families celebrating milestone birthdays, companies
hosting team events, couples planning intimate dinners — showed
me that every celebration has its own story. I completed
specialized training through the International Special Events
Society, which deepened my understanding of logistics, design,
and client psychology.
The turning point came in 2015. A corporate client trusted me
with a 250-person gala. It was featured in a regional lifestyle
magazine, and suddenly I wasn't just planning parties — I was
building a reputation as someone who could transform visions
into reality. Now, as Senior Event Strategist at summvio
B.V., I channel that experience into helping others understand
the craft of celebration planning.
