How It Started

From university celebrations to trusted strategist

My journey into event planning wasn't planned, honestly. I was a student at Hogeschool van Amsterdam studying Event Management, and I volunteered to organize the annual graduation celebrations. That first year was chaos — we had budget constraints, competing ideas, and about 400 people expecting something special.

But something clicked. I loved solving the puzzle of bringing people together. I loved the moment when guests arrived and felt the energy. So I kept doing it — first as a side project, then as my actual job. In 2010, I launched my first independent planning company right here in The Hague.

The early years taught me everything. Working with diverse clients — families celebrating milestone birthdays, companies hosting team events, couples planning intimate dinners — showed me that every celebration has its own story. I completed specialized training through the International Special Events Society, which deepened my understanding of logistics, design, and client psychology.

The turning point came in 2015. A corporate client trusted me with a 250-person gala. It was featured in a regional lifestyle magazine, and suddenly I wasn't just planning parties — I was building a reputation as someone who could transform visions into reality. Now, as Senior Event Strategist at summvio B.V., I channel that experience into helping others understand the craft of celebration planning.

Areas of Focus

What I know inside and out

Fourteen years working with hundreds of clients has given me deep knowledge across every aspect of celebration planning.

Birthday Celebrations

From milestone birthdays to intimate gatherings, I've planned celebrations for every age and budget. Kids' parties with creative themes, adult celebrations with sophistication, milestone moments that deserve recognition.

Corporate Events

Team celebrations, client appreciation events, company galas. I understand how to create professional atmospheres that still feel warm and genuine. Logistics, branding, guest experience — all of it.

Venue Selection & Design

I know The Hague and the Randstad region intimately. Finding the perfect space, transforming it to match your vision, working with venue teams — this is where practical expertise meets creative thinking.

Detailed Planning & Coordination

Budgets, timelines, vendor management, day-of coordination. The details matter because they're what allow you to actually enjoy your event instead of worrying about logistics.

Food & Beverage Strategy

Menu planning that fits your theme and budget. I work with caterers and bartenders to create experiences that guests actually remember. Food isn't just sustenance — it's part of your celebration's story.

Creative Theming & Atmosphere

Making celebrations feel intentional and authentic. Whether it's subtle elegance or bold creativity, I help bring your vision to life in ways that feel genuine to who you are.

My Approach

How I think about celebration planning

1

Authenticity over templates

Every celebration is different because every person is different. I don't pull from a catalog of ideas. Instead, I listen to your story, understand what matters to you, and build something that feels genuinely yours.

2

Logistics enable creativity

Good planning isn't boring — it's liberating. When the details are handled well, you're free to actually enjoy the moment. That's where the magic happens. I obsess over logistics so you don't have to.

3

Guest experience comes first

Beautiful design matters, but only if guests feel welcome and comfortable. I think about flow, pacing, how people will move through the space, and how they'll feel. That's the foundation of every good celebration.

4

Budget is a creative constraint

Not every celebration needs to be expensive to be meaningful. I've done incredible things with modest budgets. The constraint actually forces better thinking — focusing on what truly matters rather than what's flashy.
